I haven't done a nail post in a while, cos I've been really busy lately and haven't had time to change my nails as much as I'd like so I've been wearing Shellac. I didn't post any of the looks as they've just been plain old colour mani's (even tho they have been very beautiful). But then I got to thinking why not...I could do a shellac post and update on the wear throughout the course of the two weeks!
For those of you that don't know about Shellac, it was the first gel/polish hybrid. It applies like polish but wears like gel. It's chip resistant for up to two weeks, has zero drying time and a long lasting mirror finish. The product is from CND and I've been loving it ever since it came out about a year ago. It's definitely my most popular service in the salon, and I have people who have had up to FIVE WEEKS wear out of it! That said, it's not for all! Some of the stylists in the salon found it didn't really last that well for them, but part of me wonders if that has something to do with the colours they use on clients hair?
So anyway here it is...
I decided to do a French mani, which is unheard of for me because I love my colours! I don't know...I just fancied something different! I was in a bit of a rush though, so I'm affraid it's not perfect!
Like I say though, I do change my nails A LOT!! But I'll try and persevere with the same mani for as long as I can so you guys can see how it wears.
I took some without the macro setting on my camera so you could see that the colour is not as grey as it looks in the other pics...
So what do you think? Have any of you had a Shellac mani? How did you like it? How does it compare to the other Gel polishes on the market? Let me know.
I'll be back with an update so you can see how it's going!

I've had a gel polish done before, but it didn't last very well. I use a top coat called Seche Vite, which makes ur polish look and feel like a gel though, I find that pretty good. I haven't had a Shellac mani (or any mani actually, except for what I do at home!) before, so I can't really comment - but ur nails look fab, and I wish my french manicures were that "messy" lol, they look bloody good to me :)
ReplyDeleteWhat gel polish did you have Sharon? Did you have it done at a salon? I use Seche Vite too when I'm just wearing regular polish...It's really good isn't it. Have you tried anything else from the Seche Vite range yet? I was looking at the wholesalers the other day and I was quite tempted haha doesn't take much xx
ReplyDeleteHaha...I like color on my nails too and went for the french mani last week when I got my gelish mani....which chipped off even more today! It's been 8 days. Boo.
ReplyDeleteUrgh! Can't believe your mani chipped already! I'd be gutted! Have you been back? I've had my hands in acetone and hair colour today and mines still going strong *touches wood really quickly*. Have you had acrylics before? Sometimes if your nails are peeling after acrylics it causes the gel polish to peel...maybe that could be why? I haven't tried gelish though so I'm not sure...
